Director of Planned Gifts and Investments

The leadership of the Christian School Foundation is pleased to announce Kevin teBrake, Hons. B. Comm, M.Div., and professional accountant as our Foundation’s new Director of Planned Gifts and Investments.

Mr. teBrake was the unanimous choice for this position after a comprehensive process undertaken with the very capable assistance of Nelson/Kraft Inc.

With his lifelong association with Christian education and his professional training and experience as both an accountant and as a Pastor in the Christian Reformed Church, Kevin brings unique gifting to this position.

“I am delighted with this announcement,” said Tony Kamphuis, President & CEO of the Christian School Foundation. “Kevin’s complementary gifting is going to make him a valued and important part of the Foundation team. His character and his belief that Christian education is a powerful way to influence our culture in the name of Christ make him the right person to take on this very important role.”

Ray Hendriks, Chair of the Christian School Foundation’s Board and participant on the interviewing team, said the search was marked by “prayer, integrity, confidentiality and a positive spirit,” that included conversations with a number of potential candidates. “From our first conversation with Kevin, we could just see how he would strengthen the Foundation in this time of growth and continue to foster our commitment to integrity and professionalism.”

Kevin teBrake said he is “excited to be joining the Foundation at this important juncture in its history. This is an organization poised to have an out-sized positive influence on the Canadian Christian education scene and being active right in the heart of the action is a considerable challenge that I embrace.”

The Christian School Foundation was established in July 2014 through the amalgamation of three regional foundations and began with a combined membership of 23 Ontario Christian schools. It now has more than 90 schools in 6 provinces. Kevin teBrake begins his new role on July 15, 2022.

Kevin teBrake’s Bio

Greetings!  My name is Kevin teBrake, and I am excited to join the Christian School Foundation team, influencing our culture by being part of God’s kingdom work that equips future Christian leaders. I am an experienced and motivated Christian leader who has a passion for Christian education and stewardship. I am motivated by my faith in Christ and enjoy engaging in opportunities to serve the Lord and his people. It is a blessing to witness God’s kingdom grow on this earth.

I grew up in Southern Ontario and met my wife, Mechele, through the church youth group. We have four children ages 21-26, a son-in-law and a wonderful one year old grand-daughter. Christian Education has had a positive impact in our family’s life from elementary to post-secondary education. We have been involved in Ontario Christian school communities in St. Catharines, Wellandport, Smithville, Kingston, Belleville, London and Redeemer University (Hamilton). We are thankful to God for providing these opportunities, and desire others to have access to this powerful gift of Christian influence.

I graduated with a Hons. B. Comm. in 1993 from McMaster University, Hamilton, ON, and following that became a partner in the family accounting firm in Wainfleet, ON attaining my CMA designation. In 2006, I graduated with a M. Div. from McMaster Divinity College, Hamilton, ON, and served two Christian Reformed churches in Kingston and Exeter. My callings of 14 years as an accounting partner and 15 years as a pastor have prepared me for this new calling at the Foundation.

I have served in many volunteer roles on boards in the church, school, and community, including nine years as a board trustee on the Ministers’ Pension Fund for the Christian Reformed Church. My vocational and volunteer experiences bring a convergence of gifts and abilities to this position.

We currently live in Exeter, ON where in my spare time, I enjoy reading, family vacations and playing cards. I can often be found in the kitchen where I cook and bake for family, friends and fundraisers.

I am grateful for this opportunity to serve the Christian school community and its supporters. I look forward to connecting with many of you, getting to know you better, and listening to stories of God’s transforming work in your lives and schools.
